Resolution
Provide scans at minimum 300 dpi placed in your artwork, ideally at 100%. Scan images / illustrations to the size they are going to be used. Avoid scaling in the program as it distorts quality.

Colour format
If you are placing full-colour EPS or TIFF images in QuarkXPress picture boxes, use a colour as a background (white is usually safest). NEVER use a background of ‘none’.

To overprint - eg. black on top of another colour set this up as an overprint, to print all the colours underneath it.

Colour difference
To make sure that the printed piece looks like the artwork on your computer monitor, you need to translate any scanned in RGB images into CMYK. This is easily done using an image editing program like Photoshop.
